Work Package 1: Development of the Curricula Framework- Comprehensive Needs Analysis

The main goal of WP1 is to carry out a more in-depth analysis composed by means of desk research and interviews to identify and analyze existing HEI LL.M programmes in Europe and Asia in similar areas of International Refugee Law , the International framework for the protection of Human rights law, law of the sea and its relevance to Migration, clinical lawyering and advocacy trainings as well as investigate the needs of the academic staff in order to upgrade their skills to be able to face the challenges of the 21st century.  Even if a comprehensive analysis has been done for the proposal preparation (by means of intensive communication with the Coordinator and questionnaires and interviews to all project partners), the in-depth analysis will be crucial to better tailor the following project activities, in terms of relevance and impact.

Work Package 2

Work Package 2: Curricula Development in International Law and Forced Migration Studies

The main aim of the WP2 is to design and develop the main modules including the training material of the LLM in International Law and Forced Migration and the deliver the ILFM Knowledge Centers and ILFM VLE. The development of the programs will start by defining the details of the curricula based on the input from surveying reports and requirements from the academic and non-academic partners. The EU partners will then develop and establish the core of the courses, which will be either new or already existing, appropriately modified, which will be later tailored by the academic Asian partners and adapted to the local requirements. The courses will be tailored to serve regional industrial and service needs. The Masters project/thesis part shall be developed based on EU academic partners’ experience with recommendations from Asian partners.  

As a second step, the courses will be optimized to phase particular needs in each Asian participating country. The core courses can be common among partners but elective courses will be differentiated to reflect national aspirations.

Work Package 3

Work Package 3: Capacity Building for Academic Staff 

Capacity building through intense collaboration among all participants staff will be strongly promoted in this WP, aiming at enhancing Asian partners capacities, promoting the bonds among European academic bodies and their Asian counterparts and supporting the generation of innovative solutions to common problem. In this phase a short presentation replication training) of the curriculum will also be conducted. 

More specifically, one of the main ways in which the ILFM project will build capacity in the Asian partner HEIs is through the professional development of their academic staff. Professional development opportunities are often limited in higher education institutions and via this project, professors will be given the opportunity to meet other peers in their field, in different countries. 

By working together in international consortia, professors will be exposed to different perspectives and gain new insights into their subject. This WP will allow professors from Partner Countries to work together with leading experts in their field from Europe, update their skills and knowledge and be ready for the delivery of the new LL.M programme in their respective universities using innovative teaching methodologies and updated and more comprehensive knowledge on the issue of international law and forced migration.

Work Package 4

Work Package 4: Accreditation and Delivery of the Courses 

In WP4, all activities and deliverables that have been carried out earlier in the project will be put to the test as Asian Partner HEIs that will deliver the programme.  A necessary step before the delivery is the successful accreditation of the LLM programme in India, Malaysia and Myanmar. Within this work package, all the activities for Operating New and enhanced LL.M Programmes will be undertaken. These activities will be based on the preparation of the training material (classes, case studies and distance learning) and on the training of the trainers’ activities (replication training).  

Through this WP all necessary actions for proper procedural establishment of the LLM courses will take place. This includes of course the cases where complete delivery of the programme will be closely monitored by all partners and evaluation reports will be prepared at the mid-term and at the end of the programme that will document its impact and offer recommendations for its improvement.

Work Package 5

Work Package 5: Project Quality Assurance 

The objective of this WP is to ensure the activities are carried out with the best methodology and they are delivering relevant and solid results. High Quality performance is understood as a priority to achieve the project sustainability and thus efforts will be done by WP leader, in coordination with all partners and external experts. 

An exhaustive Quality Strategy will be defined (M3) with procedures, techniques and tools to be applied depending on the nature of the different tasks. Responsibilities will be assigned for both internal and external Quality Monitoring in order to achieve the required quality levels during the project implementation and obtain impact and sustainability.

Work Package 6

Work Package 6: Dissemination and Exploitation 

The project will prepare different dissemination materials, tailor made to the project target groups’ needs and interests. The idea beyond this approach is that each of them deserves its own message to be better take part and contribute to the project activities and events. Dissemination activities are classified into four levels and addressed with different modalities, for multiple purposes: 

– Internal Dissemination, 

– External Dissemination, 

– Regional Dissemination, 

– EU/International Dissemination.

Work Package 7

Work Package 7: Project Management 

WP7 is focused on ensuring a smooth project implementation from both the technical and administrative/financial points of view. Effective and satisfactory project management will be ensured by the dedication of a high skilled and experienced team devoted to:

  • Manage the project activities implementation and delivery of high quality and sustainable results (with all partners ‘contribution and within the defined timeline) that will create impact at national and regional level; and
  • properly execute administrative and financial issues. Experienced staff will be key to ensure an appropriate budget execution and justification in accordance with the Erasmus+ rules and regulations.
